fark!

Rang up today to get an appointment with the specialist. Whose first available appointment is October 31st. That's almost four months away. Four months. By which point, if this doesn't fix itself, I will have had !@%#$ bursitis for eight months straight. Far Out.

Did half an hour on the bike and a body balance class and then an RPM class this morning, followed by a brief swim. My butt is killing me from the bike seats and I've discovered I can't even do most of a body balance class because it involves flexing your feet in a painful manner. I am suspecting the same will be true of yoga.

Blah. Blah. Blah....

That is ridiculous!

Just go to a sports Doc. They can give you the cortisone themselves.

The idea of cortisone is to reduce the inflammation etc to help reduce the recovery period and get you back to training in good time. If you have to wait months to get in that sort of defeats the purpose.

I'd hate to ask what the specialist charges as well.......

I was just going to say exactly what Clairie said. You can't wait that long!!!!

I know the names of a couple of very good sports docs who just happen to be in practice together. The one I went to 'cured' my ITB problem in the space of about a week, that was after I persevered with physio etc for a couple of months.

And the best thing is he didn't say "don't run" while it was still bothering me big time. In fact he wished me luck for the Warwick Pentath-Run :-)

I agree with Clairie and Tesso. You can't wait that long.

In the meantime, every bit of cross training you can do will make it so much easier to get back into running when the foot is better.

Sounds like spin doesn't aggravate it? If so, spin girl spin. It's a GREAT cross training option & will certainly help you maintain your fitness. I ran the City 2 Surf two years ago (and ran it very comfortably) with only spin classes under my belt & absolutely no running!
